Hey, I got my laptop back!
Phew, that's a relief.
What you missed:
~making apple pie
~making apple crisp
Do you see a pattern? It was definitely an apple time for us and I even had a friend come over for Apple Day. That makes it more fun.
There were also 2 birthdays. I made gluten-free coconut cake for L. and buttermilk cake with lemonade frosting for us. Then for D.'s birthday we had chocolate souffle with my in-laws and apple crisp with homemade peppermint ice cream for the actual day. I., my 2nd son, and I whipped the egg whites by hand. Seriously. All 8 of them. It took us at least 30 minutes. I think I got carried away because I had been watching Julia Child's The French Chef, season 1 on Hulu Instant Video (free to Prime users). No joke, she has a giant copper bowl and a whisk as long as my forearm and it only takes her 5 minutes. I am now in awe. I wanted to go grab D and drag him over to watch; it was such an impressive feat.
I also learned how to make homemade lemon curd and chocolate pudding. I'm not sure D. can go back to instant after that. He was really enthused and even went out and bought ladyfingers.
I think after missing apple time and all, I should do some tutorials.
I'm also excited about making Christmas cookies/candy this year. I have the semester off and L. loves baking. So lots of cute tiny baker pictures. He also is trying to convince me that skeletons make great decorations for Christmas cookies. Stay tuned to see if he convinces me.
